The Trancas Thermal Test Vehicle is used to represent the thermal characteristics of the 64-bit Intel Xeon processor MP with up to 8 MB L3 cache, Dual-Core Intel Xeon Processor 7000 Sequence, Dual-Core Intel Xeon Processor 7100 Series, Dual Core Intel Xeon 7200 series and Quad Core Intel Xeon Processor 7300 Series, since all of these processors share an FC-mPGAx package technology.

Actual Intel Xeon processors experience non-uniform heating that is not simulated by the uniform heating of the Thermal Test Vehicle (TTV) represented in this thermal model. As a result, to find the actual thermalcharacterization parameter, Psi_ca (thermal resistance of a given thermal solution) a correction offset must be added to the thermal characterization parameter found for the model.

This version of the model includes 2U CEK(Customer Enabling Kit)heatsink sitting atop the Trancas TTV in Flotherm* and Icepak formats. It also includes a "must read" file with references to correction factors.

Please refer to "Intel Xeon Dual and Multi-Processor Family Thermal Test Vehicle Users guide" for the correction factor details.
